Next >> Well, I want to
rant about the double talk of the health industry. Why is that what is bad
for you one day is suddenly good the next? One such example is coffee.
Now, I don't drink the stuff myself, but I know that there was a time
where it was "bad" for you and now it is "good" for you. Today, we had a
health clinic at work. We talked about stress management, nutrition,
exercise, and warning signs of a heart attack. Most of the information
that they presented I had already heard before or figured out through
trial and error. One of the
things that came up in the nutrition talk was that certain things are bad
for you when they are not consumed in moderation. This actually just about
goes with everything about food. A little chocolate isn't bad for you, but
if you finish a one pound of chocolates in a sitting, that is not going to
be good in the long run. She also mentioned that you have to look at the
portions on the label if you going to look at the nutritional label. I did
that on the 20 oz water that I was drinking that the bottle held 2.5
servings. How crazy is that? If you are going to package something for
individual sale, wouldn't it make sense to make the whole container one
serving? There was one
good piece of advice that was given that I give out to my youth group and
other people who ask, and that advice is to start with an exercise program
of just walking for a few minutes (or whatever you can handle) and then
build up from there. It is very easy to burn out on exercise, but it is
rewarding to keep going and see it through. I hope that
everyone is having a good day! I'll rant again on Friday. |
