I did not want to draw the comic this week. I was far too distracted with other
projects and temptations that I wanted to do instead. I have done a fair bit of
writing this week, both on the computer and in a journal, trying to get my
thoughts straightened out. I also want to keep playing Tibia and another RP
game,
Aveyond.
. But, as I kept going through this whole spiel of ‘I don’t
want to draw today!’, all I kept thinking about was a quote that I had read in a
book a long time ago, called The Shadow Portrait, by Gilbert Morris:
“A man knows the plumbing’s got to be fixed. He
doesn’t wait until he feels like fixing it. He just get down and finds out
what’s the matter, and he keeps working until it’s fixed. So, when I start
painting, no matter how hard it gets, I just keep on going. You know, some of
the best things I’ve ever done have come when I didn’t feel it. I
struggled, but I kept going until I finished.”
I have never intended to treat drawing the comic
as a job, but I suppose that there are days where I must treat it like one! On
the days that I don’t feel like planning and drawing the comic, I must sit down
and do the work! God even showed me this verse in the Bible:
“David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work.
Do not be afraid on discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will
not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of
the Lord is finished.” (I Chronicles 28:20)
Whew, I did not mean to give a sermon today, but I needed to hear all of this so
badly this week. God will not fail me! Sometimes, I look at my script for QFB,
and I feel utterly overwhelmed at the work ahead of me, but my Father promised
to never fail or forsake me! W00t!
Off topic: My son watched Finding Nemo today. Why is it that no matter how many
times I see that movie, I always get choked up and want to cry? I know part of
it has to do that I am a parent and I emphasize with Marlin a lot, but
seriously, I’ve seen the movie at least a hundred times! Oh well, I guess the
movie makers did their job right, eh?
Have a great weekend! |
