So much to rant about, so little memory….

First off: A great big, huge thank you to Crystalorange for stepping up to bat to do a comic at the last minute last week. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Second: If today’s comic does not make a whole lot of sense, go back to comic #111 and re-read the last panel. I changed it to make the story a little more fun. Before what I had was not dynamic at all. With this small adjustment, the story gets a little more spice.

Third: I never realized that I never established how tall Tarhia is. She was sprinkled throughout chapter two and was never put next to someone. That was fun to figure out how she related in height to everyone. Poor Pinkentity, she’s still the shortest.

Fourth: I am in the middle of being the assistant director for the Christmas program that my church is doing. As of right now, the performance is eleven days away. *GASP* The performance is only eleven days away?!?!?!? *freaking out* I still have to memorize lines (I will also be on stage, eek!), put together programs, do t-shirts, go to practice, collect props, make fudge…

In other words, I know that the possibility for a QFB comic on Friday or next week is slim. I will do my best to try and get a comic done, but I cannot promise anything as of right now. Spam has volunteered to do some filler comics for me should I be unable to get a comic done, but he doesn’t want to torture anyone too much with his stick figures.

Now for the scary part: I won’t be doing a comic during the week of Christmas either. I have been planning to take some Christmas time off from the comic and start back up again on Friday, January 4, 2008. Now if I can’t do comics during this musical production, that makes my time off come to over two weeks. Yipes!

This is where the loyal fan base comes in! Do you have a fan art of QFB? Would you like to see it up on the website? I would love to see some fan art and it would be our pleasure to post your work up on the site for everyone to see during the Christmas break. If you would like to send a fan art, make sure that it is a .jpg, .gif or .png format, and also keep in mind, that QFB is a PG rated comic. Make sure that all of your fan art is kid and family friendly. Oh yeah, and if you do have a fan art for me, send it to either myself or to Spam.

Did everyone sleep late today? Some sort of sluggish start of December lethargy? One kid missed the bus, the others were equally slow…

At the end of the year we are often asked to evaluate how our time was spent, make resolutions for next year, etc. Perhaps parents with more wisdom than I have experienced this, but it seems that this year most of my time this calendar year was not spent teaching or playing with my kids, but saying “supposed”.

“Last one in the bathroom is supposed to turn off lights, turn off the water and pick up their clothes.”
“Supper was over an hour ago. Who is supposed to sweep the floor and who is supposed to do the dishes?”
“When are you supposed to have that homework done?”
“We don’t scream at or slug our brothers and sisters. What are we supposed to do?”
“Who is supposed to take out the trash, and where is it supposed to go?”

Now according the American Academy of Pediatrics, “Carefully spell out the tasks your child must perform. Make sure she understands what is expected of her on a daily and weekly basis…” There are also recommendations for star charts, allowances, loss of privileges, evaluations to insure no child is getting overburdened, etc. Somehow, those options, even if effective, feel as exciting as filling out tax forms. I would like to do more with my kids than have a clipboard in my hands everyday. However, if they supposedly work…
